When in Rome...

Since yesterday I'm kind of in a bad mood, and the only thing worse than 'just being in a bad mood' is when you should be studying. Studying, as we all now, isn't the most amusing thing to do. So, have you tried being productive in any way when you hate the day already? Right. Simply impossible.
In an attempt to lift my mood I decided to do a blogpost about something I'm looking forward to. I will be flying to Rome in February! Traveling is always a reason to be happy, at least for me it is.
Actually I will only be there for 4 days, but as I've never been in Rome before (it's about time, I know!) and as I will be on my own, it's definitely special.

I booked the flight last weekend and instantly ordered the Lonely Planet travel guide for Rome. My package arrived on Tuesday, but as I spent the last 5 days at my sister's apartment I wasn't able to open it until last night. I still need to figure out what to see and where to stay. Lonely Planet bedtime stories, here I come!

One of my sister's christmas presents for me was this trolley. At that time I hadn't even let her in on my travel idea. I guess it was a lucky coincidence. Or maybe our twin-ishness, mental connections and stuff. :D (I badly needed a suitcase like that!)

A travel guide is essential and being able to take pictures even more. Of course my DSLR will come along with me, but my beloved Instax will be too! So my Lonely Planet was accompanied by new instant film, as I was already short on that, and that's something that mustn't be.

I also have to catch up on the things my 1000ptsbyd (most awkward shortcut haha) has to say about Rome. So much to do, so little time.

To be honest I would have loved to spend some days out of Europe, however there are some reasons justifying my stay in Rome:

  1. Rome is one of the European cities you have to have seen.
  2. Quite some people told me that it's such a beautiful city. And as an Asian/Korean Proverb says, 'it's better to see something once, than to hear about it a thousand times'.
  3. A flight to Rome, contrary to most countries/cities out of Europe, is affordable short-term.
  4. I have never travelled on my own before, so why not start with something that's not on the other end of the world, right?
  5. La dolce vita.
I don't know why I have the urge to go somewhere on my own. I believe sometimes you just have to get away for a while and be with yourself, and why not do that in a beautiful city you've never been before?

And why do I need to travel? Well, I think the answer's as easy as that: Wanderlust.
