Listening to music is one of the little joys of my everyday life, so is writing and creating a new post for this blog. It shouldn't come as much of a surprise that once in a while I like combining these two favorites of mine.
Summer is coming closer, which means the festival season is slowly starting and open-air events in general have their yearly comeback. Moreover, it seems the weather here in Austria is finally getting a hold of itself. Especially in Vienna one is provided with a vast number of opportunities to see (un)known bands and artists live at various open-air festivals. At most of these occasions even for free. For whatever reason I didn't really attend many of them in the last years. Being highly motivated to change that, I decided to make time for as many events as possible this time around.
With that said, I believe introducing everyone to four of the many good musicians one might be able to see live these days isn't such a bad idea for a post. The ones I picked are all based in Austria. Some I've known for quite some time now and others only recently joined the long list of bands I like.
Farewell Dear Ghost
I've heard a song or two of the band before, but only now I realized that I actually quite like them. They released a new EP in February this year called 'Skin' and an album back in 2014. I guess, I'll buy one or both of these rather sooner than later. I hope I'll be able to see them live this Friday at the Donaukanaltreiben. In case I'll miss that, there's still their performance at the Donauinselfest at the end of June (and many more concerts following in Summer).

Leyya
I'm in love with the song and the video Leyya released earlier this month. Their next concert in Austria is only in the beginning of July at the Home Festival. At the end of July they're also going to perform at the Popfest Wien. Fortunately, they released their new album 'Spanish Disco' a few days ago. Seems like I have a lot of catching up to do.

Einhorn
To be honest, the song (and the video) you find above isn't the one they most recently released. However, it's by far the most awesome one, if you ask me. I've seen the band live quite a few times now (no regrets), and from what I can tell they only have catchy and pretty good songs. Einhorn released their first EP 'Schöner als Berlin' in November last year and on June 17th their first album is following. Their next concert is this Saturday at the Donaukanaltreiben. [P.S. Yes, the songs are in German. But trust me when I tell you they're still worth it, even if you only speak English (or any other language).]

Gin Ga
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the song the band released this March (and also the name of the upcoming EP). Actually, discovering Gin Ga was a lucky coincidence. I saw them live at the Picture On Festival while working there in 2013 and instantly liked their sound. They released their second album 'Yes/ No' at the end of the same year. Let's hope I'm lucky enough to see them live again soon.
